If there was ever a time money management became a reality one had to face it’s during covid-19. I need not get into the details of the impact it has had on people and their finances, as we are all aware of it, what I do want to discuss is how we can cope.
You see managing money is important, no matter what age you are, and how much you make. It’s a life skill that should be taught at school is anything, most people learn as they go and loose a lot of money, in some cases it can have a lasting impact on careers, relationships, and mental health too.
I have been curious about how people manage their wealth, and have observed people around me use their money in different ways. I know people who are frugal, some who are exploring investment options, some who choose to live pay check to pay check cos #yolo , some who don’t know anything so rely on their partners, some who don’t know but are over confident and make stupid mistakes again and again.
Money management is important, so that you are never in a need to ask others for help financially. This is how I boil it down to, it’s about being smart with your skills to make the most value out of them, and then ensure you budget, and control yourself while you fulfill your responsibilities, sustain a lifestyle as per your income and have a plan for the future.
It is under extreme circumstances like a global pandemic, or economic recession, that many of us awaken to the reality of our personal financial situation. The single most worse thing you can do, is be negligent, and careless about finances when you have dependents (which is almost inevitable for every earner), simply because we earn to provide for someone apart from ourselves majority of the time.
I love money talk, I love discovering new smart ways to make the most of my income, how to increase it, how to save how to invest etc. and I wanted to bring this up on my blog so that anyone who is interested, can join along too. So look closely for posts on the topic in the future too.
